Environment, Energy and Natural Resources
Greenebaum’s Environment, Energy and Natural Resources Practice Group advises businesses on a wide range of specialized and complex environmental and mineral law matters. Our attorneys are highly experienced in environmental liability and compliance matters. We regularly counsel corporate clients on air, water, waste and other permitting issues related to operating existing facilities or constructing new ones. Maintaining close relationships with state and federal regulatory officials enables us to negotiate effectively in a non-confrontational atmosphere. We also have broad experience in environmental litigation in both administrative and judicial forums - often working in tandem with Greenebaum’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution teams, particularly the Environmental and Toxic Tort Defense Team.

Greenebaum’s environmental attorneys are regular speakers at environmental law seminars sponsored by the bar associations in our region, including the University of Kentucky, the Kentucky and Ohio Chambers of Commerce, the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce and others. We write a monthly column for the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Business Bulletin which informs subscribers of environmental matters of current interest. We periodically contribute articles on new developments to The Goods, which is published by The Kentucky Association of Manufacturers. We publish the Greenebaum Air Quality Letter on a quarterly basis to track air regulatory developments. Additionally, we serve as environmental law advisors to major trade associations, thereby affording our environmental law clients an opportunity to have their views on regulatory issues expressed in the most effective manner.

Greenebaum’s extensive Energy and Natural Resources Team serves publicly-traded national energy companies, regional producers operators and mineral owners and regional and national natural resource companies and investors. The team counsels the mineral industry on safety and health issues, permitting and reclamation. We regularly represent clients' mineral interests – especially in connection with asset and company acquisitions – throughout Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. Attorneys' involvement in national and state bar and trade associations keeps them well-informed on industry trends and issues confronting their clients. We are committed to staying in the forefront of knowledge and bringing breakthrough ideas to the unique practice of environment, energy and natural resources law.

The attorneys in the group work with clients who need their particular background whether the matter involves litigation, a business transaction, a real estate development, permitting and licensing, lobbying, or an agency enforcement action. Reflecting our varied environment, energy and natural resources practice, the group has formed cross-disciplinary teams to better serve our clients specific needs in many areas including:
